Sassy Sewing is a new kind of sewing shop. Our aim is to make sewing fun and to create a vibrant community of happy crafters in our lovely Lincolnshire town. So as well as stocking everything you’d expect to find in a sewing shop including a huge range of fabric from great value stunning poly-cottons to high end (but still great value) designer prints, wools, jerseys and a few really special rolls that even we struggle to describe, we also run workshops where you can learn to make specific garments with our lovely instructors. We also run courses in the essential techniques of sewing, quilting and anything else we can think of that will help keep you in stitches.

But most importantly we want Sassy Sewing to be a place where people can come along and enjoy and indulge their passion for all things pins and needles. Come along and say hello – we’re under the archway in Horncastle market place, next to the Stables Bistro.

Opening times: Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 4pm.   Sunday – closed unless there is a workshop running.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be freely available during the workshops and we may even surprise you with a cake. If it’s a full day workshop, bring a packed lunch with you or there are a couple of supermarkets nearby that do sandwiches, crisps etc. if you prefer to do that. We’ll tell you in advance what materials etc. you’ll need – either bring with you or buy in the shop with 10% off.

Sewing machines for the workshops are provided unless otherwise stated.

If you don’t get your project finished at the workshop, cos not everyone does, you’ll be able to pop back to the shop to use one of our machines and get support with it too. The kettle will be on.

Make a rag quilt – 21 May 10am – 4pm £35

You will design and construct a beautiful rag quilt using a variety of ideas and techniques

Cutting mat carrier – 4 June 10am – 4pm £35

This is a really handy mat carrier with space for all your essential sewing kit too. Ideal for taking to workshops with you or when travelling

Make a patchwork journal cover 11 June – 10am – 4pm – £35

Learn how to make a gorgeous cover for your favourite journal or diary using patchwork and quilting techniques

Zipped sewing case – 18 June 10am – 4pm – £35

A sewing case designed by you – how fantastic. You will make a robust, round case big enough store all your sewing goodies

Master your overlocker – 25 June 10am – 4pm £40 including all materials

Bring your overlocker along and learn how to thread it, alter the settings to suit the fabric, finish edges, do rolled hems and then make a simple project using your machine

Tailoring techniques – pockets and bound buttonholes – 16 July 10am – 4pm £40 including all materials

Seamstress Kate will show you how to put together a number of different pockets and master bound buttonholes too

Here it's not just about 'how to' but also 'why not?' We're not experts, more like curious enthusiasts and this is the place where we can all learn to be successful at sewing together.
